DONG HYUN KIM TO FACE TJ GRANT ON JULY 11TH
Las Vegas NV (USA) -- A dislocated shoulder, suffered in training, has forced welterweight standout Jonathan Goulet to withdraw from his bout against Dong Hyun Kim on the preliminary card of UFC® 100 on July 11th. But Canada will still be represented in the bout, as Nova Scotia’s TJ Grant will step in to face Kim at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Grant made quite an impression in his UFC debut in April, as he pounded out an impressive three round split decision win over seasoned competitor Ryo Chonan. Now 14-2 as a pro, the 25-year old Grant is eager to move further up the welterweight ranks by scoring a victory over the talented Kim.
Dong Hyun Kim is a hero back home in his native South Korea, and the unbeaten (11-0-1, 1 NC) “Stun Gun” is rapidly building a United States fanbase as well after wins over Jason Tan and Matt Brown. A fourth degree black belt in judo, Kim hopes to keep the “0” at the end of his record on July 11th. |

Hear Georges "Rush" St-Pierre talk about his upcoming fight, his past and future opponents and his friends in the MMA biz. GSP will talk about the great new video game, "UFC 2009 Undisputed" and his "grudge" rematch versus Dana White. St-Pierre talks candidly about the possibility of fighting Anderson Silva in Toronto or Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Download the podcast to hear from the champ before he continues building his legacy at UFC 100. "Being part of UFC 100 – it’s a great honor for me because I know it’s going to be a historical show. Even though the focus is not strictly on my fight like it was last time when I fought BJ Penn, it makes this fight even more dangerous. Thiago Alves is the greatest challenge that I had in my career – he’s gonna be the toughest guy that I fought so far, and that’s what makes him very dangerous is he’s a very confident guy, he’s a gentleman, and he doesn’t have to talk trash. So even though he doesn’t talk trash, I know he’s going to come out very strong and try to hurt me really bad early in the fight. However, I will be very well prepared. I try to focus on what I’m going to do to him instead of focusing too much on what he’s going to do to me." |
